COMPOSERS CONCORDANCE FESTIVAL II
Composers Concordance Festival II: 5. Composers Concordance Chamber Orchestra (CCCO) 'LEGENDS'
CCCO, Lara St. John - violin, Valerie Coleman - flute, Tom Bo - conductor

In 1893 in NYC, the legendary Czech composer Antonín Dvořák spoke of the influence of Native American and African American music on his Symfonie. He urged American composers to focus attention on what "must" be the foundation for "the future music of this country." Composers Concordance presents a program entitled 'Legends,' recalling the timeless melodies of Dvořák himself, and highlighting the influence of Native American and African American music on contemporary orchestral composition.

Ladies First

Inspired by adventurous women, musicians Milica Paranosic, Keve Wilson, and Lynn Bechtold, of the innovative record label Composers Concordance Records (CCR), initiated the Ladies First concept. More than just a concert, this inaugural event will acknowledge women in diverse fields.

At 7pm, a video installation featuring interviews with inspiring women will help to usher in this celebration of female accomplishment and charisma. The first Ladies First Award, created by NYC artist Cecilia Mandrile, will be awarded at the end of this hour. Please look at the Video Installation page for more info.

At 8pm, the innovative chamber music concert portion of the program begins, and features music by today's leading composers together with music of past times and remote places. Performed by the finest of New York's chamber musicians, this unique, creative, and courageous production features the ladies of CCR. The evening will focus on the aesthetics of the Bohemian style, both in its traditional historical sense and in its denotation of the Bohemian style today. Please check the Program page for more info.

At 9:30, the after-party begins, with food and drink from the wonderful businesses listed on our Sponsor page.

The women of Ladies First are embracing the age they live in, in which the ladies are allowed, encouraged, and inspired to take the lead in any and all areas of life and arts, while losing nothing of their grace, charm, and magnetism-once their only allowed assets
